It all started back in 1989 when Craig read about Big Red and the
Silver State Classic Challenge. He knew he wanted to do that one day. Well dreams can come true when you know what you want and you look for those opportunities. They have the races in May and September. So this September Craig drove his Porche to Boise, picked up his brother Brett, and they drove to Nevada.
There was registration, beginners course, car show, and other things they had to attend before the big 90 mile race! Craig and Brett were in the 110 mph class. Craig drove and Brett was navigator. Craig had to install a fire extinguisher, and they had to wear racing helmets.
The guys had fun seeing all the cars and meeting other drivers!
This is Craig with Big Red. The man on the right wrote the 1989 article Craig read. The man on the left was the driver who broke the record. This year was a reunion of that event. How amazing is that for them to be there the same year Craig went!
Like I said there were amazing cars to see!
There's Brett near the Porche. Unfortunately, they didn't get a picture of themselves together. Oh well.
After the race they drove back up to Boise. Whew! That was a lot of driving.....a little over 2000 miles.
